Trước khi vào vùng ổi nổi danh xã Nghĩa Sơn, huyện Nghĩa Đàn (Nghệ An), ông Nguyễn Hữu Quý, Chủ tịch UBND xã Nghĩa Sơn cho hay, có hai loại cây nổi tiếng ở đây là dưa hấu và ổi.

Dưa hấu, dân Nghĩa Sơn phải đi thuê đất ở các nơi khác để trồng, mỗi vụ hơn 3 tháng, lợi nhuận 150 triệu đồng/ha. Bây giờ là cây ổi, cây ổi trồng ở các thửa đất tận dụng và ở trong vườn tạp. Ổi lê chỉ trồng sau một năm là cho “hái tiền” quanh năm. Tính ra mỗi ha thu lãi đến hàng trăm triệu đồng/năm.

Ông Võ Hồng Sơn, cán bộ khuyến nông xã Nghĩa Sơn cho biết: Cách đây 6 năm, hai anh em Dương Quốc Oai và Dương Quốc Tài ở xóm Sơn Nam trồng mỗi người 3 sào ổi (1 sào ở đây tính 1.000m2). Cây giống là ổi lê Đài Loan các anh mua ở Hà Nội, kèm theo cây giống họ còn được hướng dẫn kỹ thuật canh tác và chăm sóc ổi. Hai, ba năm sau, vì thấy lợi ích kinh tế đem về từ việc trồng ổi là rất cao, trong lúc đó nhu cầu tiêu thụ của khách hàng là rất lớn nên lãnh đạo xã đã chỉ đạo mở các cuộc hội thảo để bà con nhân rộng mô hình.

Vườn ổi nhà chị Đỗ Thị Vinh ở đội 3, Nghĩa Sơn

Anh Dương Quốc Tài cho biết: “Em và anh Oai là người đầu tiên đưa giống ổi lê Đài Loan về đây trồng. Kỹ thuật canh tác, ngoài được cung cấp lý thuyết của Học viện Nông nghiệp VN, chúng em còn đến nhiều nhà vườn khác để học hỏi thêm kinh nghiệm. Vì vậy riêng vườn ổi của nhà em chỉ có 3 sào, nhưng mỗi năm cũng “thu hái” được hơn 200 triệu đồng tiền lãi”.

Đến vườn ổi của chị Đỗ Thị Vinh (đội 3, xã Nghĩa Sơn) chúng tôi thấy khách đang tấp nập vén cành thu hái quả. Lúc đầu chúng tôi không thể tin đây lại là vườn ổi, vì mênh mông vườn chỉ thấy một rừng hoa đủ màu đang đung đưa trước gió. Thấy người mua cứ vén cành cắt xén từng bông hoa ấy, chúng tôi mới hiểu đó là những quả ổi đang được bao bọc bởi những túi vải đủ màu.

 Khách mua lựa chọn ổi để trả tiền cho chủ vườn

Chị Vinh lý giải, đây là giống ổi lê Đài Loan, chỉ trồng một năm là cho thu hoạch quả quanh năm. Trồng ổi không phức tạp, chỉ cần biết cách cắt lá tỉa cành, bón phân, và tưới nước một ngày một lần làm sao cho cây đủ độ ẩm là được. Khi cây ra quả bằng đầu ngón tay là phải bọc chúng bằng các túi vải để ngăn ngừa côn trùng thâm nhập. Bởi vậy đây cũng là loại quả rất an toàn về sinh học.

Chị Vinh còn cho biết, nhà chị trồng hơn 2 sào ổi được 200 gốc. Nguồn giống mua từ dân bán giống cây ở khối Thí Nghiệm, TX Thái Hòa (Nghệ An), nhưng xuất xứ ở Học viện Nông nghiệp VN. Giống ổi này chỉ trồng sau một năm là cho thu hoạch quả, tuy nhiên đến năm thứ 2 thứ 3 trở đi thì vườn ổi mới đạt năng suất ổn định trung bình 30 – 40kg quả/cây/năm.

Vườn ổi chị Vinh trồng năm thứ 2. Hiện tại mỗi ngày khách vào vườn mua đến hơn 100kg. Khách mua ổi đến đây giống như vào siêu thị mua hàng. Nghĩa là khách vào vườn tự chọn rồi ra báo với chủ để cân lên trả tiền. Bây giờ đang là chính vụ thu hoạch nên giá ổi tại vườn là 15.000 đồng/kg. Chị Vinh cho biết bình quân mỗi ngày bán ổi thu được từ 1,5 – 2 triệu đồng. Giống ổi này vào dịp tết bán tới 40.000 – 50.000 đồng/kg.

Rời vườn ổi nhà chị Vinh, chúng tôi còn đến các vườn ổi nhà thầy Dũng, anh Chương, chị Nga… Đi đến đâu cũng thấy khách hàng dập dìu đến mua hàng. Tốp thì đèo xe máy chở ổi đi ra, tốp thì hối hả vào vườn để chọn quả.

Chị Đậu Thị Quỳnh Trang ở TX Thái Hòa cho biết: “Em là khách hàng ngày nào cũng vào đây mua ổi, nói về chất lượng thì chỉ có ổi Nghĩa Sơn đây là ngon nhất, vì mẫu mã đẹp, thịt quả ngon, dòn, có vị chua thanh rất đậm đà. Đặc biệt là độ an toàn về vệ sinh thực phẩm thì rất đảm bảo. Bởi vậy riêng em hôm nào cũng có khách ở Thái Hòa, Diễn Châu, Yên Thành, TP Vinh đăng ký mua hàng qua điện thoại. Có hàng, em về đóng gói rồi gửi theo xe ca, xe buýt cho họ là họ chuyển tiền luôn”.

“Đến nay trên các thửa đất tận dụng và vườn tạp, nông dân xã Nghĩa Sơn đã trồng được hơn 20ha ổi lê Đài Loan. Trong đó có 16ha đã cho thu hoạch. Tính ít nhất mỗi ha trồng 800 gốc, đạt 20 kg/cây và giá bán bình quân trong năm 20.000 đồng/kg thì mỗi ha ổi đã cho thu 320 triệu đồng”, ông Võ Hồng Sơn, cán bộ khuyến nông xã Nghĩa Sơn cho biết.
